  • Breastfeeding Welcome Here LogoSt. Catherine Hospital has received the Gold Level “Breastfeeding Employees Support Award” from the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition and its Business Case for Breastfeeding program. The award is based on proven and established standards to benefit employers and employees. It recognizes businesses that provide support services to their breastfeeding employees, to include education as well as the time and space for employees to nurse and/or pump breastmilk at their workplace. This award is just one example of the work and dedication associates of St. Catherine Hospital have shown toward breastfeeding initiatives.

The value of breastfeeding is the optimal way to feed a newborn. Breast milk contains just the right balance of nutrients in the form that is most easily used by a baby's body. The experience of breastfeeding is special for so many reasons -cost savings, health for both baby and mother and the bond which is formed. Breastfeeding benefits extend far beyond being the best source of nourishment. Breastfed infants have a lower risk of a variety of illnesses and infectious diseases. Plus there are numerous health benefits for the moms, too.

You are invited to learn more at the breastfeeding clinic and prenatal classes offered at St. Catherine Hospital where an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant is trained to give you the support needed.
