• Volunteer Opportunities

  • Volunteers are a vital part of St. Catherine Hospital.

    These wonderful men and women touch the lives of people through their compassionate service. Areas where the volunteers work are:

    • Surgery Waiting Room
      The surgery waiting room volunteer provides companionship, answers questions, gives out room numbers and makes certain that messages from staff are given to family members and friends who are waiting.
    • Siena Medical Clinic Information Desk
      The Siena Medical Building volunteers welcome, give directions and assists guests to the Medical Clinic.
    • St. Catherine Hospital Information Desks
      The information desk volunteers, welcome, give directions, and assist visitors at St. Catherine Hospital. They also deliver the newspapers, mail and flowers to patients. 
    • The Benincasa House
      The Benincasa House volunteer is committed to making guests feel as comfortable as possible for as long as their loved one is in the hospital or undergoing cancer, radiation, wound care or antibiotic treatments at SCH. This area needs someone who can do light housekeeping duties (bag dirty linens, restock linen cabinets, unload dishwasher, etc.) and has a compassionate heart and a listening ear.
    • The Gift Nook
      The Gift Nook volunteer serves as a salesperson in the hospital's beautiful gift shop.  
    • Music Volunteers
      The music volunteers provide uplifting, joyful music for our guests, patients, and associates.  It is our hope to provide comfort and a healing environment. Commitment is one hour a week.

    About the 2017 Summer TeenMed Program - The TeenMed Program is now FULL

    The Summer TeenMed Program at St. Catherine Hospital, is open to all teens that are interested in a health care career and would like to learn how a hospital operates. To join the program an application must be completed and submitted by Friday, April 28 at 4:00pm. (The Volunteer Department reserves the right to decline any application.)

    Teens will explore career paths as well as gain an understanding of how our unique facility operates. There is no cost and lunch is included for all teens participating.

    The program will focus areas in the hospital industry such as:

    • CPR/First Aid
    • Customer Service Training
    • Clinical Rotations
    • LifeTeam Air Ambulance Tour and Flight
    • Personal learning objectives by Providers 
    • Presentations from Doctors, IT Management & Directors

    2017 TeenMed programs offered

    Teens who are accepted into the program must attend the mandatory orientation. Teens will choose and participate one of the scheduled programs of choice.

    Session 1 - June 5 - June 30, 2017

    • Mandatory orientation
      Date: June 5 - 9
      Time: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
      Room: Classroom 1 (ER entrance, walk up incline, take elevator to LL, turn left, #1 is on right)
    • Clinical Rotations
      Date: June 12 - June 30, 2017
      • Morning: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
        or
      • Afternoon: 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

    Session 2 - July 10 - August 4, 2017

    • Mandatory orientation
      Date: July 10 - 14 
      Time: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
      Room: Classroom 1 (ER entrance, walk up incline, take elevator to LL, turn left, #1 is on right)
    • Clinical Rotations
      Date: July 17 - Aug 4, 2017 (Select a session time to attend)
      • Morning: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
